Personal fitness differs from person to person. A balanced lifestyle with activities that one is comfortable with – even if it is not in fashion – is good. When a person does exercise it releases chemicals that make the person happier and active. It is always important to have a balanced and healthy lifestyle rather than exercise like a maniac for a thin figure.
I was always on the bulkier side. To stay and look fit, one needs to exercise and replace unwanted calories with healthy foods. After I discovered my physical capabilities one day while running, I realized I could turn out much fitter and healthier. My typical fitness routine is a variety of different exercises with a healthy balanced diet. The exercises that I love to do are Yoga, Pilates, dancing, kickboxing, aqua exercises and running on the treadmill – activities that l usually do in turns. A person needs to have an enthusiasm and dedication towards fitness, only then he/she can enjoy doing it.
Yoga is a good form of exercise and it makes the body more flexible. Yoga or skipping an hour a day can work wonders. One should always start exercising after consulting a family physician. It is also best to start under a personal trainer and once one knows what all is needed; he/she can perform those exercises on their own. I do weight training on alternate days and give complete rest to my body on weekends. It basically strengthens the muscles. Along with this I do some stretching and cardio exercises.
I do meditation as it gives total relaxation to the body and mind. It is very essential for the body to relax and be stress fee before one starts exercises. By doing relaxation and meditation early in the morning, it has a calming effect on my body and it reduces stress. The best way that I meditate is to sit on the ground with legs folded and eyes closed. There should be limited noise.
Exercise not only keeps the body fit but also increases the heart and lung capacity. Dancing is also a very good form of exercise. Long hours spent on working, a poor diet and not getting sufficient rest should be avoided as much as possible as it depletes the body’s store of nutrients and causes fatigue and tiredness.
One should avoid taking alcohol, smoking and be stress free. A good night’s sleep followed by a healthy breakfast the next day is essential.
Sometimes when I get tired of exercises, I follow a detoxification diet .It helps in cleansing the digestive system and gets rid of the waste product from the body thereby improving digestion and I have glowing skin. I usually consume fresh fruit, fresh fruits and salad for two days and then spend the next five days eating healthy food such as steamed vegetables, soups, nuts and baked fish and chicken. This routine helps in rejuvenating my body and I feel fit, fine and healthy.
